Cub Scouts participate in a variety of annual events that promote community involvement, fun outdoor activities, and personal development. These events often bring together the entire pack, as well as local units and scouting organizations. Here are some annual events held by Pack 4363:
Pinewood Derby – This is one of the most popular and anticipated events for Cub Scouts. Scouts and their families build and race small wooden cars in a friendly competition. The event emphasizes creativity, craftsmanship, and friendly competition, and it’s often a big family affair with plenty of excitement.
Blue and Gold Banquet – The Blue and Gold Banquet is a celebration of the anniversary of Cub Scouting (February 8th) and a recognition of the achievements of scouts throughout the year. It’s a festive event where scouts are awarded badges, promoted to the next rank, and often participate in skits, songs, and other activities.
Overnight Campouts (Pack or Den Campouts, Summer Camp) – These events provide Cub Scouts with the opportunity to spend a night or weekend camping outdoors. Scouts learn basic camping skills, enjoy nature, and bond with other scouts. The campout may include activities like hiking, fishing, campfire stories, and s’mores.
Raingutter Regatta – Similar to the Pinewood Derby, the Raingutter Regatta is a boat race, where scouts create small, sail-powered boats that race in a water-filled "raingutter" track. It’s a fun event that encourages teamwork, creativity, and friendly competition.
Service Projects – Many Cub Scout packs participate in annual service projects, such as food drives, park cleanups, or charity events. These projects help scouts develop a sense of community service, responsibility, and the importance of giving back.
Trunk or Treat – Cub Scouts often participate in Halloween-themed events where they can go trick-or-treating in a safe, supervised environment, or engage in fun activities such as trunk decorating, costume parades, and themed games.
District or Council Events – Throughout the year, Cub Scout packs may also participate in larger district- or council-wide events like camporees, scout fairs, or fun runs. These events typically bring together many packs from the area and may feature competitive games, skill challenges, or large-scale service projects.
These events are not only an opportunity for Cub Scouts to enjoy fun activities, but they also teach valuable skills, foster friendships, and help scouts grow as individuals and as part of a community.
